Online Safety

Partnering Together to Keep Kids Safe Online

Technology opens doors to incredible learning, creativity, and connection — but it also brings risks that children may not fully understand. At Mary Bergeron Elementary, we believe that teaching digital citizenship and online safety is a critical part of preparing students for the world they live in.

We actively teach students how to stay safe and responsible online, but it’s just as important for parents and caregivers to be informed and involved. With new platforms, games, and trends emerging constantly, even young children can be exposed to unsafe content, cyberbullying, online predators, or privacy risks — often without realizing it.

We encourage parents to:

  • Monitor and set limits on your child’s online use
  • Talk regularly about what they’re doing online and who they’re interacting with

  • Explore resources together to build awareness and healthy habits

Grande Yellowhead Public School Division has partnered with the Saffron Centre to provide helpful tools and resources that support these important conversations at home. These links offer insight into popular websites, gaming platforms, legal implications, and how to talk to your child about safe technology use.
