Student Clubs

Where LEADERSHIP and RESPONSIBILITY are developed

SWAT (Student Wellness Action Team) - any student in Grade 4 & 5 is given the opportunity to participate in this club. SWAT consists of student leaders that mentor younger students and role model positive behaviors to help others make healthy choices. The MBE SWAT members are divided into different leadership groups that include Crossing Guards, Recess Guardians, Healthy Eating and Nutrition, Physical Activity and Mental Health and Social Wellness.

MBE Recess Guardians - any student in Grade 5 is given the opportunity to participate in recess guardians. Recess guardians is designed to provide older students with leadership training and tools to successfully lead students in games and collaborative activities at recess.

MBE Crossing Guards - responsible students in grades 4 and 5 can sign up to be crossing guards, ensuring students who walk home after school can cross safely at the crosswalk in front of the school.  They undergo training in crossing safety and operate in teams of three with an adult supervisor.

MBE Polar Bear Club - any student in MBE is given the opportunity to participate in this club, with parent permission. On days when the temperature is cold enough for inside recess, the MBE Polar Bear Club heads outside to participate in outside physical recess games and enjoy the fresh air.

MBE Running Club -  Students meet at lunch recess to build stamina and endurance by running through the nearby trails.

MBE Ukulele Club - students are given the opportunity to hone their ukelele skills. The MBE Ukulele Club performs at the Spring Concert, Volunteer Tea and other events.

MBE Choir -  The MBE Choir performs during assemblies and during special school events such as Remembrance Day and the Christmas concert.. The MBE Choir is also invited to perform at many community events as well as at Parkland Seniors Lodge and even local hockey games.

MBE Art Club - students get an opportunity to learn about a variety of art mediums and techniques and explore their creativity as they participate in this lunch hour club.

Student Created Clubs - throughout the year, students are encouraged to create, organize, and manage their own clubs.  These clubs can be created by students at any grade level but always have a staff member who oversees and supervises the club.  This structure is another way we provide our students with leadership opportunities.
